Ângela Santos has a PhD in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage – Conservation Science developed at the Department of Conservation and Restoration and VICARTE Research Unit of NOVA University of Lisbon. She has Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Conservation and Restoration, specialising in stained-glass and glass painting materials (namely the sanguine paint). Her research has focused on the materials’ analytical characterisation, their preservation, and the study of history and techniques of artistic production, particularly painted glass materials, including stained glass and painted magic lantern glass slides, within the framework of her PhD thesis and the project MAGICA (Magic Lantern: Study, Safeguard, Uses and Reuses in the 19th-Century Portugal).
