Rita Macedo is assistant professor at the Department of Conservation and Restoration, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, School of Science and Technology. She was trained as an art historian and obtained her doctorate in 2008, in the field of Conservation and Restoration (Theory and history). She is responsible for the Laboratory of Documentation for the Preservation of Contemporary Art at FCT NOVA, where she has been supervising a group of junior researchers (PhD and Master’s students) studying theory and practice of Documentation for the conservation of complex artworks, including time-based media and performance art. Rita Macedo is a researcher at Instituto de História da Arte research unit, where she is part of the Museum Studies Group and of the research Cluster Art, Museums and Digital Cultures. Her research interests are focused on values in heritage and contemporary art preservation and on the ways conservation of contemporary art media artworks impact the museum, and vice-versa.
